About Us

Jesse & Angela

Hello! I’m Jesse, and that’s my far better half, Angela. I know, I can’t believe she settled for me either. I found her profile on okcupid.com in 2008, and knowing that the competition was fierce, wrote a ridiculously long email wherein I tried to convince her to give this poor sailor a chance. Through a stroke of luck, she wrote back. From our first date until today, nearly 5 years later, we’ve been right by each other’s side, ready for the next adventure or opportunity that comes our way.

Throughout our relationship, change in geography has been a constant. In Seattle, WA, her hometown and my self-elected city of origin, we lived in a high-rise in the center of downtown as well as a place on the edge of the water that was a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the city’s core. In both places, we worked hard to create a home both for ourselves and our friends. For us, there is nothing better than sharing experiences (or recalling earlier ones) with old friends over good food and drink.

Midwest by Train
The midwest of the US is just… huge. Click for larger.

We left Seattle in 2010 to pursue a new opportunity and to start working on a family. This new opportunity took us to a little town located just outside of Myrtle Beach, SC. We got there by train – if you ever get the chance, cross the US by train! Unfortunately the fun quickly wore off. I don’t want to bore anyone with the details, so suffice it to say we felt like square pegs in round holes. The family plans did not get off to the quick start that we had hoped for, which didn’t help matters. It was a rough 3 years, and we needed to do something to “reset” our lives.

And that brings us to present day, early 2013. Knowing that the South is not for us, we’ve paid off our debts, saved some money, done a little planning… and we are off! We will be backpacking Europe for as long as we can afford to do so. What lies ahead of us? We’re not sure, but it certainly will be an adventure.
